Connaught Place in Delhi built in 1931 is one of the most popular shopping centres. Its a place where there is nothing that one cannot get to buy here. With several eating-houses,the state emporia buildings, head offices of major banks, airlines and many such things of importance to the tourist bunched at one place. The first Chief Executive Councillor of Delhi, Padma Shri Mir Mushtaq Ahmad is the first known Indian to hoist the tricolor flag at Connaught Place.   When Connaught Place was considered the heart of imperial British India prior to independence, he successful hoisted the tricolor at the bandstand in Central Park each year on 26 January. On 7 March 2014, the largest known Indian national tricolor at that time (now second largest) was hoisted at the center of Central Park, measuring 60 by 60 feet (18 by 18 m). 

The Cannought place area is easily recognisable on any map of Delhi represented by a big circle with radial roads spreading out. There are eight separate roads that lead out from Connaught Place central palce named Parliament Street and Radial Roads 1 through 7.   The Palika Bazaar is a Municipal Market named after nagarpalika. Officially Indira Chowk is the Outer Circle of Connaught place, which has rows of restaurants,hotels and shops. The Middle Circle has small eating outlets and offices. Connaught Place today plays host to various cultural programs in the central park area.
Palika Bazaar  is an underground market set up in 1970 located between the inner and outer circle of Connaught Place, Delhi, India. It is named after Palika Bazaar of Mumbai. Palika Bazaar hosts 380 numbered shops selling a diverse range of items; however, the market is dominated by electronic items and clothing. 

Palika Bazaar is estimated to have some 15,000 people within its confines at any given time and also attracts many foreign tourists.   It has a reputation of availability of products, starting from traditional stuff to fake designer products and pirated CDs, software and movies at very low prices.
